Invest in the boring foundations, which are documentation, lineage and testing. They determine whether the platform is still trusted in two years or quietly worked around with spreadsheets.

Plan for enablement from the start. The return on a reporting platform comes from people changing how they make decisions, and that requires training, office hours and visible sponsorship.
